We had a good week in 7th grade! Many of the middle school teachers passed along compliments about how the class was doing this week, and it has been great to hear that the students are seeing success in so many areas. Way to go 7-uppers!
Mini-economy ended today with Tax Day. Next week the students will get a chance to buy items like homework passes, extra recess, and use of fun chairs or seating options for a designated period of time. Thank you to Grace for being our Mayor, Mia for being our class banker, Hannah for being our class teacher, Aderinoye for being our courtesy director, Jenna for being our class attendance officer, Michael for being a custodian, Luke for being on table and chairs crew, Gavin for being a reporter, and Tanner for being a board cleaner! We also really enjoyed Indi's treats she sold as an entrepreneur! I am very excited to report that our class project for All Saints' Fest did VERY WELL! So well, in fact, that we had two separate families ask if they could pay into having us come to their properties too. This means that our original donation of the service and $250 Lowes gift cards went to one winner (don't know who yet!), and two add on service requests (no gift cards) went to to other winners. We were able to raise $350 dollars for Our Shepherd! Way to go 7-upper families! More information will be sent along about what days and what equipment we will need for fulfilling our service for these three families. This week was definitely a challenge with the frigid weather causing us not to have our outside time. Today, though, we had beautiful weather for outside recess! We ended our First Trimester last Friday, and the start of our Second Trimester has been pretty smooth. Tonight is All Saints' Fest, and I am very excited to see who wins our Yard Work Service Project this year! Thank you all for your prayers and monetary support in this. Once we know who the winner is, I will be sending information about when our service day will be in the spring.
Important Papers to Look for Today Your student's report card and green acknowledgement/concerns slip (return this form) Chick-fil-a Thanksgiving Lunch paper (also green) Hearing screening paper (small white paper) What are we learning? Religion: we have started our study on the Table of Duties, and will be delving into what vocation means. Science: we are working on a choreographed simulation of a cell that goes through the cell cycle. Health: we are examining what a role model is, what God says about role models, and how we see ourselves as role models. Ask your student about the classes they have outside of our room too! :) I pray that you have had a great weekend! Christmas Break - No School https://ourshepherdmiddleschool.weebly.com/other-useful-information.html Well, October has flown by so quickly! And it doesn't feel like fall anymore either, especially after the snow we had this week.
We have started our new hymn of the month: For All The Saints, and the 7-uppers sound really great already! Mini-Economy started today! Grace will be our Mayor, Gavin will be a Reporter, Mia will be a Banker, Hannah will be a Teacher, Jenna will be an Attendance Officer, Aderinoye will be our Courtesy Director, Tanner will be a Board Cleaner, Luke will be on Table and Chairs Crew, Michael will be a Custodian, and Indi will be an Entrepreneur. Things to be thinking about.... Don't forget to set your clocks back this weekend! Yay for fall back! Tuesday is an E-Learning day, due to OSL being a voting station. Students will receive their assignments from their teachers on or before Tuesday morning. Friday is the end our first trimester of 201-2020. Report Cards will be sent the week after. It's not too late to donate toward our All Saints' Yard Work Service Project, you can still send in money toward the gift cards. What are we learning? Religion: we have been discussing who Martin Luther was and the important work he did. We have also been having great class discussions on why there are different denominations. Science: we are learning about mitosis and the cell cycle. Health: we are learning about responsible decision making. As a whole, we know what the right choice is usually, but we are recognizing that sometimes it is still very hard to choose that option due to influences around us. Ask your student about the classes they have outside of our room too! :) I pray that you have a blessed and restful weekend!
