We did it! We made it through the end of the First Trimester. Whew! Report cards will be sent home next Friday.
Tonight is the ornament decorating at OSLS! Come join the fun and create a lasting memory! Next Friday (November 17th) is our musical! We are all working really hard to make this production a smash, and we hope you will all be able to join us. A pink paper went home with your students detailing various expectations for next Friday's musical, be sure to ask about it. If you have questions about the evening, let me know. As we are transitioning into the cold weather season, it is really important that students remember to bring gloves, hats, scarves, and coats to school. We try to make it outside for recess as long as it's not raining, snowing, or way too cold, and it helps if students have the appropriate outerwear. If you have extra gloves, hats, or scarves, you may wish for your student to keep those at school, just in case, but bringing them each day from home is fine too. Classes at a glance... The 7th graders are working on understanding how humans use and make energy in science, especially in respect to our use of fossil fuels. They have two readings on the types of energy used, and types of energy found all over the world. We will be discussing how we make electricity from these various sources, along with how our God has designed us to convert sound and light energy into information. In Religion we are starting our catechism questions with Confession. We have been learning about how we approach God and our neighbors to ask for forgiveness. Taking a look at why we confess, and what we receive through absolution given by our pastors and neighbors. We will also be discussing the church year and seasons, ways we worship, and our outlook on life events because of our foundation in Christ. There will be a couple assignments that will involve asking family members about married, death, and perspectives on life. These are intended only to serve as discussion starters, and are in no way meant to create anxiety or strife between family members. When these are assigned and brought home, please let me know if you have an concerns or questions about them. In health we are looking into how our bodies are designed to combat the various things that can cause illness and diseases. I very much enjoyed the students' viruses they created! We will be discussing ways we can help our bodies natural defenses too. Have a blessed weekend everyone! In Christ, Nicolette Mierow (A look ahead: Sunday, November 19th at 6pm, Blast Family Movie Night. Movie will be The Blindside, and there will be a snack potluck.)
