We sure had a crazy week! With a full moon on Wednesday, and a late start on the Friday before spring break, the students were a little wound up. This did not stop us from doing some amazing learning, though, which culminated in some pretty cool bridges in our choice class today.
In Religion we have begun discussing Heaven and Hell, and where our worth comes from...our Lord! Memory the week we come back will be the First Article of the Apostle's Creed and Meaning...which is a loooong one. If you treat it like a list, or try to put a rhythm to the words, it will help you as you learn it. Also, not waiting until Tuesday, April 2nd, to try to learn it, that will help a ton! In Science we have examined the three different types of volcanoes, how they form, and how each can change the landscape. After break we will be examining how weathering and erosion can affect the landscape. In health we will be learning about how a human develops during the Second Trimester of human development. I have asked that the students try to bring in a baby picture for April 2nd. Looking for a picture from their first year right now, and then the following week we will be looking at toddler pictures, between ages 1 - 4. Thought I should give you parents a heads up in case some searching needs to be done. These pictures are just to share and should return home in the condition in which they came. THERE WILL BE NO AVON LUNCH DURING THE WEEK FOLLOWING SPRING BREAK! Remember to pack your lunches that week. Just a reminder, please be conscientious of the dismissal procedures. There have been some concerns about students and parents crossing through the dismissal traffic, and we want to strive for safety of all our families! Thank you. Here is the dismissal map and procedures for your reference. I pray that you all have a blessed break! We started the week with a sub, Ms. Matthews, and ended with a STEM choice class on making suspension bridges. The warm weather was a nice change, though the strong winds were not very fun, right 7-uppers? Some of our recycling escaped!
Next week is the last week before spring break! Students need to make sure they are getting any missing work turned in before next Friday, though some teachers are expecting redo's as early as Monday. Many of the middle school students have been working on late and/or missing work during recess, flex times, and even choice this week. We as teachers are hoping to see a decrease in the occurrence of late work after this week. Just a reminder though, teachers will be reminding students of missing work from their classes and requiring the tasks left undone to be completed prior to that week's Friday Choice classes. If work is not completed, students will miss out on Choice classes. Papers that your student should have brought home today include a bookmark flier about Here We Grow Again a note about your student's hearing screening a flier about a neat opportunity coming to OSLS called Men IN Action (click here) In Religion we have begun discussing God the Father, angels, and the fall.
