Our week has been full of activity, but ended with a beautiful day!
Our school fundraiser ends tonight, so you still have a chance to receive more orders to help our school! Next week, we are headed out on our first field trip of the year, the Zoo! Thank you for smoothly switching over to online field trip forms! REMINDER! All missing work must be turned in by 4 pm Monday, Aug 26th, for students to be eligible to go on the zoo trip. Please look at RenWeb (school code os-in, set up with your email) to find out if your student has anything missing. Lastly, just a heads up, I have received a jury duty notice, and although my official day is Monday, Aug 26th, I may be out on another day this coming week. Pray it isn't Tuesday! Important papers were sent home Friday! Panara Fundraiser sheet (it's green) Scholastic book order form - ONLINE CODE FOR OSLS MIDDLE SCHOOL: HJHF3 Forms of Payment: Online (credit card) or Check (made payable to Scholastic) **All orders help us earn points to purchase new novels for the classrooms** What are we learning? Religion: we have continued talking about prayer, and what it means to be a disciple. We discussed whether there is such a thing as unanswered prayers. Science: we are learning about prokaryotes - single-celled organisms that lack a nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles. The students also learned that bathrooms are kind of gross. :) Health: we have continued talking about what makes us tick...basically, how do we see ourselves, and where do we find our worth. We will be looking at Life Skills, and Abilities in terms of our overall goal to be healthy. Ask your student about the classes they have outside of our room too! :) I pray that you had a blessed weekend! Having time to reconnect and talk about what's going on in our lives was really nice this week. Each student has a personal mug in the classroom, and we each enjoy hot cocoa, tea, or water while we chat. Our Great American fundraiser kicked off Thursday, which is probably why you received a text or email from your student during the school day. Everything is online this year, no need to take catalogs around anymore! An information sheet should be in the packet of papers sent home Friday. First week of our first choice class of the year! Your student may be working on a creative writing piece, a journalism story, or learning a part for a play. What are we learning? She was a young christian during the Nazi regime and had to endure persecution unto death. Science: we are learning about the Cell Theory and all the advancements in cell biology we enjoy today. Health: we are talking about what makes us tick...basically, how do we see ourselves, and where do we find our worth. We made it through the first "week" of school! The weather was beautiful, the classroom is neat, and the students have been great. So far, we have gotten a better look at how our daily routine will work this year, learned our hymn of the month, "I am trusting thee Lord Jesus," met our chapel buddies, welcomed a new student (welcome Luke!), chosen our electives, and picked our first choice class section. I will say it again, whew!
Things to remember: Band students need to have their instruments for Monday, next week. Next week Thursday, is Back to School Night, starting at 6:45 pm. Blessings on your weekend! In Christ, Nicolette Mierow |
