Another one of those weird weeks for us! E-Learning day Monday, and a late start day Friday, really made the week feel long, but it went so fast at the same time.
Tonight is PTL Movie Night! 6 - 8 pm. Next week is National Lutheran Schools' Week! We kick off by having the staff and middle school students sing at the services this Sunday. Come check out our banner! Geography Bee is Wednesday, January 30th, come cheer on our 7th grade representatives. In Religion we are continuing to talk about the commandments and how they relate to us as God's children. We have spent time talking about the sanctify of human life, and how we are able to honor our parents and those in authority. Memory will continue to focus on confession and absolution. Memory drawings have become a highlight of my week. How each student views the verses they are learning is uniquely shown in their sketches. Remember: this will be a participation grade. In Science We will test on all things Cells Monday, January 28th. In health we are learning the names and locations of the bones in our bodies. There will be a quiz next Wednesday, covering the bones of the feet, arms & hands, shoulder and ribs. i-Ready Testing should be wrapped up after this week, and results will most likely be shared at the end of Trimester 2, if not before. I pray that you all have a blessed weekend. We started off the week enjoying the snow, and now we are looking forward to more snow coming!
In Religion we are talking about the commandments and how they relate to us as God's children. We have finished the first table of the Law (expectations God has for our relationship with Him), and next week we will begin the second table of the Law (expectations God has for our relationship with our neighbor). For memory, we are starting Confession, which is a perfect match to the 10 Commandments. Memory drawings depicting what our verse is teaching us using different media (pencil, colored pencil, pen, marker, crayon), have been great again this week. I have enjoyed the different ways the students share their understanding of their the 10 commandments this week. Remember: this will be a participation grade. In Science we are reviewing our unit on cells. We will test Monday, January 28th. In health we are learning the names and locations of the bones in our bodies. There will be a quiz next Wednesday, covering the bones of the spine, pelvis, and leg (no feet). i-Ready Testing will be completed in the next two weeks. This will be our second opportunity to see how our students are progressing. The math portion has been completed, and we will be testing on reading next week. January 21st, will be an E-Learning day. Be looking for the e-learning assignments from the teachers in the coming week, which will be emailed to both parents and students in the middle school. This is to make up for our missed day right at the beginning of the school year so we don't have to come back for one more day at the end of the year (boo, that would be a Monday!). January 25th, is a 1 hour late start day. Classroom opens at 9:10 AM to 7-uppers, class devotions (led by Alivia) at 9:25 AM, and school begins at 9:30 AM. I pray that you all have a blessed and safe weekend! Enjoy the snow! On Monday, teachers are available between 9 am and 4 pm if you need anything. We had a great class discussion on Thursday about worship and prophNext week, students are memorizing the 10 Commandments in order. Memory drawings depicting what our verse is teaching us using different media (pencil, colored pencil, pen, marker, crayon), have been great again this week. I have enjoyed the different ways the students share their understanding of their memory. Remember: this will be a participation grade. In Science we are wrapping up learning about cellular respiration, or the process by which a cell produces energy to perform life functions. We have been completing a virtual lab that explores how yeast respond to certain variables which affects their ability to perform cellular respiration. This then is linked to using yeast for baking bread to answer why bread would come out flat after being baked. In health we are moving into learning the names and locations of the bones in our bodies. There will be a quiz next Wednesday, covering the bones of the head. Next Monday, plan on having breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Chic-fil-a! Our Shepherd will receive a portion of the sales throughout the day Monday, so if you want, have all three meals there! Tell your friends to join you, just remember to tell them at Chic-fil-a that you are with Our Shepherd. i-Ready Testing will be completed in the next two weeks.
