Merry Christmas!
I hope you all will enjoy your Christmas break and have a blessed time celebrating with family and friends. I pray that you are all able to relax and come back refreshed! Our Christmas party was a great time today! Gifts were exchanged, games were played, food was eaten, and fun was had. I enjoy getting to spend time like this as a class - no stress of homework or getting through material, just having fun! While it may feel far off, January will creep up on us. So while you are getting out your new calendars and putting dates on them, here are somethings to remember:
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

One more week until Christmas! With that being said, the class has planned what they would like to do for their Christmas Party. They voted to do a Secret Santa exchange - we set a limit of $6. Please have the gifts brought in by Friday so that everyone can have a gift to open during our party. They also voted to have Chick-Fil-A for lunch that day. So, I will take the kid's orders early next week and have them bring in their money by Thursday so I can order their lunch. If your child chooses not to order lunch, Avon lunch will be available and they are welcome to bring their own lunch in. They can also bring in a dessert, drink, or other side to share as well.
With ordering lunch in, we will need someone to pick it up and bring it to school by 12:15 on Friday, December 21st. If you are able to do so, please let me know! In other news - we raised over $500 for our trip to Mackinaw Island at the Advent Service meal and bake sale! This money will be distributed between the students accounts. Your child should have also brought home information and order forms for our Pizza Kit fundraiser for the Mackinaw trip as well. We walked through how to fill everything out and the process together, in class, but if you or your child have any questions at all, please be sure to let me or Mrs. Hickman know! A bright green sheet was sent home for students to order cookies to raise money for the 6th grade trip to Chicago. The order form and money need to be turned in on Tuesday. Lots of things are happening at Lutheran High School! Their applications are available for students attending next school year. They also have a basketball game tonight with FREE admission for students! Mrs. Hedges will be there to head up the Our Shepherd Cheering Section. You won't want to miss it! Yet another week down in our school year that seem to just be flying by! And we've reached the season of colds and other yucky germs being passed around in the Middle School hallway. Especially in the 8th grade, we have lots of sick or under the weather students. So, encourage your kids to get lots of sleep, drink lots of water, and wash their hands! Hopefully this weekend will be a restful one for all those who need it.
While the weekend should be relaxing, there are a lot of fun things coming up to put on the calendar:
Whether or not we want to believe it, high school is right around the corner for the 8th graders. Lutheran High School's applications are now open, so if your student will be attending, be sure to get them signed up! See the note below for some more info: APPLICATIONS FOR LHS: We are excited to begin accepting applications for new students for the 2019-2020 school year! Applications opened for all grades on December 1st. If you know a family who is interested in attending LHS next Fall, please be sure to connect them with Mrs. Barnett at [email protected]. Have a wonderful and restful weekend! |
