It's Spring Break! Yay! I know the students are ready for the break, and so are we teachers!
In choice class the last few weeks the students were working to build suspension bridges that would be able to hold a full can of pop with only a few set materials. They were split into groups of various grade levels and had time to plan and build their own bridge from their own design. Some bridges were barely able to stay fixed to the table while others were able to hold above and beyond the one pop can goal! We hope all the students had fun stretching and working their engineering part of their brains. Some things to remember as we go into this week of relaxation:

The students had fun on Pi Day yesterday in their math class using their skills and knowledge of pi to bake apple pies! Today for Choice they began designing their own suspension bridges that we will test next week to see if they can hold a can of pop. There were also several students who were able to enter an Essay contest for Lutherans for Life today. Lots of things happening in the middle school for sure!
Some things to know:
Have a good weekend! Wow this week was busy! With the start of the Lenten season, Sci-Fest and the Concordia Band being here, it was a busy, but very exciting week of school!
Speaking of Sci-Fest - Huge shout out and congratulations to Faith and Abbie for taking FIRST PLACE in the 7th/8th grade level. What an awesome thing! The band students had the incredible opportunity to play with the CUNE band while they were here. The rest of the school were treated to the fantastic sounds of the two bands during the assembly on Thursday. If you missed it, head on over to the band page and scroll down to the bottom to find the link to the video recording of the bands playing together. Some things to remember:
Hard to believe it's March already! Here are some important things for this weekend and next week:
With our new trimester starting, I encouraged all the 8th graders to take this last trimester here at Our Shepherd seriously. High school is a different game and they all need to get into the habit of getting their work done, putting effort into their work, and getting their work turned in on time. Some of them are still really struggling with this habit and could use some encouragement at home as well as school to keep working hard to improve. Here's to making our last trimester our best! |
