We had a very busy week this week between our trip to the zoo, Student Council Presidential Election, sports, and regular class work! But it was another good one.

Looking forward to next week, here are some reminders:

School is in full swing and the students finally have the hang of their schedules and what teachers expect of them.
I talked with the 8th graders today about Growth Mindset – the idea that if they set their mind to embrace challenge as opportunity, if they believe they can accomplish something, they will be able to accomplish that thing. We also talked about how if something is difficult for them, it does not mean they are stupid or less smart than someone else in the class. It's actually a good thing if something is hard! It means their brain is growing and making the changes necessary for them to understand something new and master a concept. I told them that if they find classes challenging, that's ok! They should embrace the challenge as a way to learn and grow. I also reminded them that all their teachers here want to see them succeed. If they are stuck on something, that's what we're here for! I pray your student is able to embrace challenge through the school year and see it as an opportunity for growth, not an possibility of failure. Reminders:
God's Blessings on your weekend! We made it a full week!
Our exciting thing this week was that the 8th graders learned a team building game! They have yet to beat it, much to their frustration, but they enjoyed it and we'll continue attempting it as the year goes on (pictures on the snap shot page). This week began our school wide fundraiser. You're student should have brought home a packet with more information. We ask that if you do not wish to participate, you send the packet back to school. God's Blessings on your weekend! We had a great first week of school! I'm so excited for what the rest of this year will hold for this group.
