We're back into the groove of things after our Thanksgiving Break and are amping up for our Advent Service! The 5th-8h graders have been busy preparing to lead both services in a way that they hope will remind us all of the wonderful gift we were given in the birth of Jesus.
Remember that as the winter continues and temperatures drop, students need to have warm coats and gloves for when we go outside. The fresh air and bits of sunshine we get during this season are good for the students, so unless it is bitterly cold or really wet, we will plan to be outside for recess most days. Give your middle schooler the friendly reminder they probably need! There are lots of things going on in the short time between now and Christmas break, so here is a reminder of some of the big dates:
Have a blessed weekend!

A fresh, new trimester means a fresh, new start as far as grades go! With a clean slate I'm encouraging all our students here to take a look back at how they think their last trimester went. Was is as great as they had hoped? Could they have done better? Could they have done A LOT better? What can they do to make this one even better than the last, even if their grades were where they wanted them? I'm taking the fresh start to heart and I pray they do as well!
With our first snow (or, rather, ice) day, I think we can say Winter is officially here. Despite the cold, we have still be going outside for recess - the fresh air does the body good! Even though middle schoolers can be hard to persuade, please encourage your child to be wearing weather appropriate clothing and to bring a jacket to school. With the ice day yesterday, the Varsity boys basketball game will be rescheduled. Information on when it has been moved to will be coming out as soon as we have it. Other important information and news:
Have a blessed weekend! The last week of the first trimester has come to a close! It's amazing that we are already a third of the way through the school year. It seems like only yesterday your kids were coming in for registration day and introducing themselves to me for the first time. We've come so far since then!
Monday is the start of a new trimester: fresh start in the grade book, new assignments and units. We've spent enough time figuring each other out that I think this next one will be great! I look forward to this next trimester and all the exciting things your child will learn. Grades for this trimester will all be updated and finalized by Wednesday and report cards sent home on Friday of next week. As we go forward, here are some things to remember and upcoming events:
With that, have a wonderful weekend! While it was a short week, it was jam packed with all sorts of things! The most exciting of which was we rearranged our rooms in preparation of our upcoming Literature Circles Unit. The 8th graders seemed to enjoy the change of scenery as much as I did!
We also did a first run through our Advent Service Program, which went well for the first time! I'm excited to see how the kids use this as a way to share the love of Jesus and the story of his birth with others. Next week is a busy one, so here are some things to keep in mind:
