Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you felt loved by friends, family, and, most importantly, Jesus today!
It's not Friday, but with an e-learning day tomorrow, I figured sending out our weekly news a day early wasn't a bad idea. With that mentioned - your student should receive an email from each of their teachers by Friday morning at 9AM with the tasks they need to complete. We will all be available most of the day, so encourage them contact us with any questions they may have! Some reminders for the upcoming week(s):
Have a wonderful weekend! Happy Friday!
Pizza deliveries on Monday went really well! All the kits were picked up and many of the 8th graders were able to raise a lot of money to go towards their trip. I will be finalizing balance sheets and sending those to you all very soon here. Some exciting news from the Geo Bee: Cameron won 1st place and MacKenzie took 3rd! We're pretty proud of how well they did! Many of our boys are also playing in the basketball tournament that is here this weekend. Be sure to come out and cheer them on! Here are some things to remember:
Have a great weekend! How crazy is it to think that it is already February? I can't believe how quickly January went. But, we ended January in the best way possible - National Lutheran Schools Week! We had so much fun with the various dress up days and activities we got to do. It was a crazy week between the freezing temperatures and the schedule changes, but one that I enjoyed and I think all the students did as well!
Now down the business - the things not to forget:
Pizza Fundraiser update: The pizza kits that were ordered will be delivered to school on February 4th. Pick up for the kits will be between 2:30 and 5:30 that day. We are NOT able to store any kits here at school, so all of them will need to be picked up. Please make sure you let those who ordered from your student know about the pick up time or arrange to deliver it to them yourself if they are unable to come during that time slot. Many of the students raised a lot of money for their trips! It was great to see the hard work many of them put into selling pay off. If your student is thinking of attending Avon next year, please see the note below and follow the links for some important information. There will be paper copies sent home as well on Monday. Good afternoon, everyone! It’s a little crazy to think that we’re looking ahead to 2019-2020 already but I feel as if we’ll blink and we’ll be talking about high school plans for your 8th graders! We have already heard from some parents who would like their child to shadow another student at Avon HS prior to making a decision regarding high school attendance and we have changed our process for “shadow days” from what we have done in the past. This year, we will offer parents two days that they can schedule a “shadow” and will be splitting these days into a morning and an afternoon session. Here is a link to Pre-enrollment page on our website (click on Class of 2023 to access the shadow day sign-up link): https://www.avonschools.org/site/Default.aspx?PageID=11154 The Class of 2023 freshman parent night will be held at Avon HS on Tuesday, February 5th , 2019 at 7 pm in the auditorium. Parents can enter at Door 33 and after the general session, there will be a separate meeting for the parents with students currently at a private school. I have also attached a list of our guidance counselors/administrative staff and the alpha assignments they each serve. Please let me know if you have any questions! You must read to your children, you must hug your children and you must love your children…. Your success as a family, our success as a society depends not what happens at the White House, but what happens inside YOUR house.” –Barbara Bush (1925-2018) 8th_grade_parent_night_flyer_2019.pdf 8thgradeparentnighletter_2019.pdf counselor_contact_sheet_2018-2019.pdf Have a wonderful weekend! |
