Can you say busy week?? National Lutheran Schools Week, Pizza Kit fundraiser delivery, basketball games, 8th grade recognition for winter sports, special persons day, basketball tournament, and, I'm sure, more!
With all that being said, I think we had a great week! We started working on the Lutherans for Life essay contest in our Writing Workshop and continued having great conversations while reading The Diary of Anne Frank. Plus, with it being National Lutheran Schools Week there was plenty of extra excitement around the building! Speaking of excitement: 8th GRADE WON PENNY WARS!!! While winning is obviously awesome, the even better thing is that we raised over $1,400 to donate to Sheltering Wings and purchase new playground equipment at school. Just all around an awesome week! Here's to an awesome weekend as well! This week was certainly a busy one. Here are the highlights:
Dates to Remember: January 26th: 5th-8th sing for 8AM church service February 6th: Middle School Drama Night 6:30PM February 13th: PTL Box Top Collection February 14th-17th: No School February 21st: End of Trimester 2 February 24th: PTL Meal Prep/Tupperware event 6PM May 5th: e-learning Day We've started reading through the Diary of Anne Frank in Literature and even though we've only just started, we've already had some great conversations. Even though the Diary of Anne Frank may be familiar to some of you, I would encourage you all you to talk to your kids about what they are reading. Some of the topics that come up can be hard to think about. Anne goes through a lot during her time in hiding. We talk about a lot of those things in class and bring the biblical perspective into thinking about these things; but talking about them as a family would be good!
Reminders:

The biggest thing to report is on Pizza Sales! Hopefully everyone was able to take advantage of this opportunity and raise some money for their trip. Please remember that all orders and money are due next week Friday (the 17th) and all orders will be delivered to school on the 28th. Please start reminding those who ordered that they need to make arrangements to have their pizza kits picked up or delivered to them before 5:30 that evening.
