I hope you are all having a great weekend. Today is a beautiful day to get outside and enjoy the nice sunshine:) We had a busy and productive week wrapping up our first trimester of fifth grade. It's hard to believe that we are a third of the way done with this school year. We will be discussing things that we feel have gone well and things that might need to be ramped up a bit. I would encourage you to have that conversation with your child also, so that you might know how best to continue to support them. Blessings, Mrs. May Happy Friday:)
The pictures above show our church outreach project. Every month, one class works on something to show God's love to our congregation and to thank them for their support. We chose to make prayer crosses (Thank you to Rev. Seth Mierow for cutting them out), and cards for our ministry staff and for our shut-ins. It was a fun project, and we hope the recipients feel loved. We are so thankful for a terrific church family:) Other Highlights of our week: -In Reading class, we finished our novel and wrote a final paper. -We took our 4th capital quiz and had delicious Mississippi Butter Wafers from Lucy. Up for next week is Robert! -We learned about the Mayan and Aztec civilizations in Social Studies. Thank you to all who attended the Outdoor Ed meeting yesterday. We have included a snack list in today's packet, and also an official permission slip. PLEASE SEND THE PERMISSION FORM BACK ON MONDAY!!! We need to notify the office of who will be driving. Snacks can be brought as early as October 7. It's getting close, and we are excited! Monday Packet treat will be brownies and candy corn/peanut mix. Hope you are having a good weekend. As always, it is going by too quickly, and I apologize for the lateness of this message. Highlights this week in our subject areas:
Mrs. May Hello, and Happy Friday Everyone:)
We had a good week which included, chapel led by Pastor Truelson, an awesome trip to Conner Priarie, and plays presented in CHOICE class today:) Thanks this week go to all who drove for Conner Priarie and also to Bryce and Kristin for tasty capital cookies. Up next week is Michaela:) Friday's packet has most of this week's work already graded. Please play close attention to the spelling test, the memory work, and the capital quiz. If your child is struggling with this, I strongly suggest that they study each of these items ten minutes per night. Many students are giving it their best, and I'm so glad to see this. These study habits will carry through middle school, so please help your child "pick up the pace" if they need to. Parent Teacher conferences are September 23rd. If you have not signed up yet via The Ram News, please do so this weekend. And, finally, we have scheduled a short Outdoor Ed meeting for Thursday, September 26th at 5:00. Outdoor Ed is a well-loved field trip which begins on Wednesday, October 9th and concludes at the end of the school day on Friday, October 11th. We will have lots of information and various forms for you to take care of. Please put it on your calendar and plan to attend. Have a good weekend. Another week has quickly come and gone, and it was a busy one, since we were a day shorter than usual:)
Mrs. May We studied The Armor of God, and we made out own armor! Happy Friday Everyone!
My first bit of news is an apology because the Friday packets are sitting on the counter-we forgot to send them home:( This is especially frustrating because there is a lot of info in there, and I had all the papers from the entire week graded and ready to go. Oh well, I guess there have been worse things than that. I'll send them on Tuesday right away. If you are in the building over the weekend for church or anything, feel free to stop in and pick yours up. Results from last year's I-Learn testing are in the packet. When you get them, be sure to see the info from Mrs. Hedges on how to interpret them. Let me know if you have any questions. Our Social Studies Capital Cookies program begins next week. A letter was sent home at Back to School Night. Your student also has the same info in their binder. Your child is responsible for knowing the first five states and capitals and where they are located on the map. I will be the baker for next week:) Our zoo field trip was a lot of fun. The weather was great, and the animals were very active:) Thanks to all who drove with us. Every month a class from the school plans a church outreach project to show our love and support for our church people. This year, we will be making wooden crosses to hold as prayers are being said. These crosses will be distributed at hospital visits and shut-in visits by our pastors. If you took a tracing of the cross at back to school night and can help us by sending in the rough cuts, we will get started on the sanding as soon as next week. Thank you, and if you are interested but didn't get a tracing, let me know. Elin will be celebrating a birthday next Wednesday and bringing in popsicle treats. Carrot cake will be the packet treat (Freebie for all!!!) Parent Teacher conferences will be on September 23rd. There is a sign up genius to reserve your time slot. Please see the RAM NEWS for this info. Dates to Remember Sept. 2 NO SCHOOL Sept 6 LATE START (9:10) Sept. 16 PTL City Bar-B-Q dine out Nov. 15 ALL STS.
